I had the pleasure of dining at Salt in Bantry Bay last night. What a truly memorable evening. Our friend was out from Ireland and we sat at a window table with the most beautiful view of the sea and sunset. Our waiter, Major was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and specials. All three of us chose the fillet on a bed of risotto with chopped chorizo sausage, shitake mushrooms and rocket (hope I got that right chef) every mouthful was delicious. R140 and it was well worth it. Decadent puddings and cheese platters followed and were just as tasty. Our Irish friend was so impressed with her evening she was back there today for lunch celebrating her husbands birthday!

We had a table booked for 12h30 and sitting at 13h00hrs for 8 persons and the service whilst charming was incredibly slow and in fact the main course did not arrive until 14h45hrs just when our guests had to leave.
It therefore took away the shine of the ambience the location and indeed took away what is excellent service (when it happened ) and excellent meal
The ridiculous wait was the most unattractive part of what could have been a really good experience

I love the place but the maitre d' lets the place down horribly. She was condescending and arrogant when my fellow diner rightly said her steak was overdone (she'd ordered medium rare and she got well done). She came over and said that under the bright lights you could see the steak was cooked as she'd ordered it but that in any event they were very kindly going to give her another steak. Badly, badly handled ... she's talking to people who eat and order steak all over the world and know when it's overcooked. What happened to the customer being right. ... My rating of Salt has gone down a star because of her.
