Restaurant at the Grande Provence's Reviews

1 If you are a slave to the god of food then it's time that you make the pilgrimage to Grand Provence where the maestro Peter Tempelhoff is serving up a piece of blissful food heaven.

This is tastebud travel at its height with a technicolour setting of rolling vineyards, towering mountains and a tranquil breeze inviting you to dust the city off your feet and really enjoy your love for wine and food.
I was treated to a five course meal of note. What stood out was the cured salmon gravid lax with creme fraiche and keta and buckweed blinis. Salmon melting in your mouth while the combination keta, blinis with the creme fraiche actually had me staring into space savouring the magic of the flavours, textures and the thought that went into the combinations. The lightly smoked duck breast with confit duck pastilla and slow cooked sirloin (cooked to absolute perfection) were also highly recommendable.

However the Grande Provence wine jellies with complimentary sorbets is now my official favourite dessert. We had four sorbets pear, cherry, apple and chocolate sorbets resting on jellies of wine cultivars that complimented each flavour. Once again the thought that went into the combinations of flavours really needs to be respected while the sorbets could not have been more delicious! Well done and to everyone who is looking for something truly special... make the pilgrimage to Franschhoek it's worth it!
