Belthazar (V&A Waterfront)'s Reviews

Great atmosphere, excellent service and out of this world food - especially the fillet with pepper crust.

I thought the food was way over priced. And the lettuce in the salad we ordered was, lets just say, unhealthy-looking. The service was good though.

Absolute divine dining- the food, wine and professional service was excellent.I took my wife there and she fell in love with it. Definitely a restaurant to be recommended!

READERS BEWARE!!!! I had a lunch yesterday with my girlfriend and we shared a good bottle of wine. Service is nothing above average - fast but not friendly or warming at all. Menu prices are a joke - I can not believe they ask what they do as their product is also nothing to write home about. There are certain re Grills Houses in Greenpoint that offer a premium product which blows Belthazar out of the water.

It is a sad day to be dissappointed by an award winnning restaurant.

Absolutely overpriced restaurant. I cannot understand why they ever recieved the Best Steakhouse award. Food was not what you would expect from a award winning restaurant. The wine menu is extensive but its prices are way above the norm, even for Cape Town. This restaurant does personify tourist trap with its high prices and below average offering.

Attention all carnivores! Feel like a juicy steak? This is definitely the place. It is not often one finds a restaurant where the chef truely understands the meaning of rare. The service and food is great, but be prepared to pay. It is worth it though. They also have an extensive winelist that includes some of the best wines of the region!

I had dinner on Friday 10/08/07 at 7pm with family and friends. Six people in total. Starters- 'Onion Blossom'. It was delicious. Sauce -like a flavoured mayonnaise. Mains-BBQ Chicken Kebab, with chips & trio of vegetables chicken was tender and perfectly grilled. Veggies-Butternut, Creamed Spinach, Beetroot. I had never had 'warm' Beetroot & found the spices and bit of dressing to be superb. It was enough to accompany my meal and to share. Most of the wines were expensive, so chose to have Bells with lemonade. I was given a few spoonfuls of a 'Peppermint Crisp' dessert.Delicious!! Overall the service was excellent! Waitress was able to deal with my brother-in-law who can be difficult patron. Perhaps they could change their menu presentation to a better quality one?

Also there on Saturday night. Service was very good - we were a large table. Staff extremely knowledgeable and more than enough to eat. Have no idea what Annamarie is on about.

Myself and a group of friends decided we would try this restaurant Saturday evening... expecting some good food and excellent service, instead we had a waiter who basically forced the food on us.. we asked for some water.. which we were given.. but the waiter kept filling our glasses every time we took a sip.. and before we knew it.. our water was up.. and without even asking the waiter brought another 2 bottles of water.. the food came.. and for the price we paid.. we were not impressed at all.. expecting a feast, we felt more like we got some finger foods instead...I've had better

Welcoming ambience, very impressive wine list with equally impressive and knowledgeable staff to make recommendations on both wine and food choices! The food was absolutely great!
