Subarshi
You must be talking about a different restaurant. The food is great and the service has been brilliant. The best value for your money sushi in Cape Town. We have been regular patrons for the last 3 months. We also attended their sushi making course and that was a lot of fun and very informative.

Subarshi
had a great meal and wonderfull service. the sushi was great and they have great deals there. the service has definetely improved in the last 2 months and it's a great little restaurant that is on the way up.
Pastis Brasserie
This is a great little French bistro with great food. Last night I ordered seared tuna served with asparagus and a beurre blanc sauce - honestly I said yum about 20 times, it was a delight. Hubby ordered fillet au poivre served with vichy carrots and mash, which one of us has each time we go there. Love the place. Service not always great, management not hands-on at all. Last night no manager even there. But the food always brings us back.

Cattle Baron Steak Ranch (Table View)
My boyfriend and I went to eat at the Tableview branch. We were seated quickly as we never made a booking. We then waited 20 minutes for a drink, for which I had to call someone to help us with our order. When we received our food it was cold and completely tasteless. We decided to give them another chance a few months later. The service was terrible our waiter did not attend to us, once again had to ask for assistance. Eventually when our waiter arrived he did not seem interested in attending to us, but more attentive to the table behind us. No manager came to check up on us. Once again, I was really disappointed in the service and food of a restaurant that everyone seems to think is so great.

Societi Bistro
I had never been to Society Bistro before, but after hearing the reviews I thought I should try it out.. now I am wondering why it is considered one of the best places to dine in the V&A? Our waiter took far too long to reach our table (even though they were not busy). We finally got our wine which was corked- I might not be a wine expert but after working as a waitress and in the bar of a wine bar for two years, I know a thing or two. When I told my waiter that there was a problem with the wine, he smirked at me and said- "and what would you know?"
The food was terrible, my chicken burger was more like rubber stuck between 2 slices of hard bread, drowned in tomato paste that should be used as a pizza base and my chips were burned. But what shocked me the most was the attitude of my waiter who had his nose stuck in the air when it should have been stuck in the glass of wine before sending it out to his tables. Not an experience I'd like to repeat.

Primi Piatti (Umhlanga)
This is the most awesome restaurant. The service is always great, especially the attention that everyone gets from the maitre'd. The most divine pastas - always guaranteed an enjoyable experience.

Kauai (Kloof Street)
I've avoided Kauai Kloof Street for months and months after racking up a track record of a bad experience every single time, from poor service, to waiting an hour for a fruit salad to a broken blender and impatient customers piling up because no-one bothered to tell them or turn them away to a full-on fist-fight breaking out between two employees - but now it's finally under new management.
I went in for the first time in ages yesterday, unable to resist the chicken zucchini soup and was super impressed. The service was fast, friendly and professional. It was a total pleasure. Good job.

Subarshi
Mediocre sushi and appalling management who loaded the bill.
When we noticed a discrepancy between the menu and the bill (R10 on a sushi platter and R5 each difference between prices on the menu and the conveyor belt) and called our fantastic waitress over, the chef descended to explain that their prices keep rising so quickly they just can't keep up and new menus are so expensive to print.
He tried to blame it on the waitress for not telling us the new prices (of every item? when she'd just started?)
We said we'd pay the listed price and he baulked, then said fine, he'd take it out of her tip. We demurred strongly. There was nothing wrong with her service.
On our way out, we notified other tables to check their bill carefully.
It shouldn't have happened in the first place, but it was appallingly badly handled.
Heading into winter, with only 4 tables occupied and with very mediocre sushi on offer, you'd think Subarshi would care more about their customers.

Cynthia's Indigo Moon
Visited 8 May 2008. Ordered starters and mains at the same time. One and a half hours after starters were served the wrong main courses arrived. Manager (that took the order) acted as if he couldn't understand what the problem was. Thoroughly disappointed at pathetic ignorance of the manager. Will definitely never waste my time there again waiting on food that will never arrive. Shocking.

Paternoster Hotel
Good seafood at Paternoster Hotel. Looks like a dive but food really worth the effort but a restaurant not listed on Food24 site is The Noisy Oyster. The best food we've eaten in ages was at the Noisy Oyster in Paternoster on the West Coast. About 1,5 hours north of Cape Town. Really worth it. Seared Tuna to die for, fillet that was sublime, prawns like you've never tasted anywhere and oysters - what can we say. Must book in advance and ask to sit outside. Lots of fires to keep you warm. What a wonderful experience, the waiters and owners fantastic and chef out of this world.

Clementine's
We arrived at Clementines in Clarens for lunch. Upon placing our order, the waitress literally took my menu from my hands & copied the order word for word from the menu (I feared that she may copy the description of the dish as well) - she seemed surprised that we wanted the wine we ordered while we were waiting for our food. The wine was delivered unopened with no wine glasses. Upon asking, she brought one wine glass - we eventually found a cork screw behind the bar & opened the wine ourselves. The main course was served before our starter... and the food was extremely average. We will definitely not be returning.

Bruegels
I had being eyeing out Bruegals for quite a while as I drive past it on a daily basis and had heard great things about. Went there last week wednesday. Suprisingly it was quite empty possibly everyone was away for the long weekend. Service was pretty good, pizzas were very well priced and they were incredible! The yamoto if I can remember was one of the better pizzas I have had. Definately a good and cheaper alternative to Bardellis...

Borruso's (Kenilworth)
Well after waiting for what seemed forever the other night to get a seat we waited even longer for our food. It seemed like the take aways were getting first choice over the sit down customers. The place was kinda dirty and the food was alright. Nothing spectacular. I heard the one in Rondebosch is better. Will definately give that one a bash next time cos they're not going to see me here again.

Transkaroo
Awesome setting, vibe and service, and unbelievable food. I had fish and the hubby enjoyed the Signature dish. I didn't leave enough space for dessert but had to have the Creme Brulee....it was the smoothest I've ever tasted. Truly a great experience and definitely a stop over on our next trip.

Zhong Hua
Best Sushi in the Eastern Cape. Absolutely divine and the service is excellent. One feels totally comfartable at Zhong Hua. If you have never tried Sushi before do yourself a favour and go there. Prices are also very affordable. Yummy.
