3 Blue Water Cafe
I was pleasantly surprised at this amazing restaurant. It will become one of our best. Every tourist needs to go there. It is in one of Cape Towns oldest historical farm houses.

5 Borruso's (Kenilworth)
Service was not what I expected having the place recommended to me, the food was good but I thought the place has evolved from cosy to cluttered and dirty. My personal rating is 3/10.

6 The Nose Restaurant and Wine Bar
Had an amazing time at The Nose bar last night - it was perfect winter food. My husband had an incredible Chicken and Apricot pie - loads of chicken and good creamy sauce and I had the hugest portion of bangers and mash with butternut mashed potato. The gravy was just divine. Our waitress Mary couldn't have been better - she was superb even though the service from the kitchen was a little slow as they had no gas that evening. But we had such a nice time with the live jazz and wine tasting which was going on that we didn't mind. We will definitely be going back very soon!

8 Cafe Del Mar
I initially only went to Cafe Del Mar For a quick coffee while doing a little work on my laptop. When I opened up my PC the waiter who was so friendly and chatty notified me that they offered free wireless internet for customers. Lucky me as I was actually urgently needing to send some E-mails. My quick coffee changed into me ordering a glass of wine as by this stage I had decided to stay for lunch. Their lamb chops are to die for and well presented and definitely value for money. I had friends that ended up meeting me for cocktails which were also fantastic. All in all it was a great experience. The food and drinks were good. The service was superb and Ill definitely be back again.

10 Ocean Basket (Cornwall View)
I had the worst time ever recently. My parents came to visit us from the Cape Province. We thought to take them out for some seafood. The Ocean Basket in George is great, so we though we couldn't go wrong with the one in Cornwall View. The service was non-existent. The prices were ridiculous and the menu pathetic. I had a starter which was deep fried in old oil for a very long time. When I complained to the waiter, she told me that all the dishes were prepared in the same oil and that it was the prepared in the correct way. We left after we had our starters!

12 Cynthia's Indigo Moon
To all the romantics out there - this is just the place for you! The menu caters for a variety of tastes. Everything was fresh , beautifully prepared and served. The service was unobtrusive and quick. I can't wait to return. Keep up the great work!

13 Cranks Thai House of Blues
This is possibly my favourite restaurant in Joburg. The spring autumn rolls are heavenly and the choice of food phenomenal (which can make choosing a tad difficult). Real value for money too and the kitsch setting just makes the whole a wonderful experience.

15 Hillside Tavern
The food was unbelievable; I had the Portuguese spare ribs, amazing. My husband had the lamb shank. The portions will make a grown man grin and ladies will take food home. Quite an experience.

16 Kong Roast
Went to Kong Roast last night. Found the concept very refreshing and interesting. Loved the funky decor. BUT we were on the Roast side and found the service very poor. Constantly had to ask for service, wine to be topped up, pepper etc. Attention to detail was poor and staff were not attentive. If they get this right and take heed it would have been a perfect evening.

17 Bibi's Kitchen
As for the plastic tables and chairs, do you expect all take-aways to have table clothes, music, and padded seats for you when you eat there? Bibi's is not a restaurant anymore. By the sounds of things you have been to Bibi's many times; if they dislike them so much then why do you keep going there? I think Bibi's is great, they have always provided the best Indian food at affordable prices.

18 Bibi's Kitchen
To Fahieda: Bibi's do take orders, I notice that your comment was placed on the 19th December. That was just after Bibi's had reopened. I know for a fact that they were not taking Eid orders just after they opened as they were still settling into things. They have always taken phone orders and will continue to do so. To Anonymous: The owners are always willing to help and offer their knowledge of the various dishes. Also, as for their prices being "ridiculous", I think they offer good value for money, and excellent quality. I mean "ridiculous" compared to what? Are you aware that the prices of all ingredients in food are going up these days due to other issues. You can?t expect them to keep their prices the same forever. What about the other side of the argument: Despite the increase in food prices during their revamp, when they reopened they still maintained their quality, yet managed to keep their prices constant.

19 John Dory's Fish and Grill (Century City)
After reading Kerryn comments on John Dory, i have to share my experience. I will never ever go there again, we went for the Sushi special on Wednesdays, what a disappointment. Firstly the waitress was hopeless as she could not cope with the demands of a "busy" restuarant. We waited over an hour for our first sushi platter (the worse sushi ever), drinks only arrived after the sushi platter, would you believe this!!! We continually asked for our bottle of wine, eventually we begged for the wine. The manager does not deserve his job at all, as he is rude and should not be in the hospitality business. Probably can't get a job anywhere else. Couple next to us, just left their money for the drinks, as the waiter was nowhere to be seen or take their order. Probably seeing to his best clients. So in conclusion i will never ever go to any John Dory'ssss......
