ANSWER

Malbec is one of the least known Bordeaux varietals and for many years, South Africa has stuck to familiar favourites such as cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot instead. It is quite difficult to introduce a new variety into South Africa as restrictions on importing plant material are quite rigid and I suspect that most people haven't really bothered that much as there was not much interest in it and we had enough work making our other varieties as good as we could. But with more people travelling, particularly to argentina, there is increased interest in both malbec and Petit Verdot and I expect you will see more on the shelves soon. My favourite at the moment is probably Diemersfontein.

Can you answer this question?
