It’s Christmas at Checkers and here’s why you should visit their Wine Route.

It begins with wines from over 80 leading estates at cellar prices, plus top award-winning wines , like the Nedbank Green Wine award winners , a collection of Veritas & Michelangelo award winners as well as their very own Odd Bins Bin 242 and Bin 239 Sauvingon Blancs 2013.

It doesn’t end there. Checkers teamed up with SA’s top wine critic, Michael Fridjhon, to find over 50 of the world’s best-value wines from 9 countries as part of their Wines of the World range .

Whether you would like to explore tastes like Italian Chianti, Argentinian Malbec or port from Portugal - you are guaranteed to find something to match the occasion.

Their newest addition to their list is Germany. Try the new German Riesling , also known as the leading grape variety in Germany and the perfect pairing wine for any dish with its aromatic and light sweet peach flavours.

And if you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated, voila! They have authentic French Champagne for under R200 a bottle – now that’s worth a toast!

For all the footy fans, look out for this exciting competition exclusive to Checkers – buy any bottle of Chilean Casillero del Diablo Cabernet, Merlot or Pinot Noir from the Wines of the World section any Checkers, Checkers Hyper or Checkers LiquorShop and you could win a trip to the UK to see Man Utd LIVE!

Simply check your till slip for entry details.

Since it is the time of giving, you’ll find magnums and gift packs that will help you tick the names off your Christmas shopping list.

And to make your life easier: you can order wine by the case online.

Simply place your order and pick it up at your nearest Checkers.

It’s just another reason why Christmas is better at their Wine Route.
