The food is awesome. Always fresh. Always innovative. The service on the other hand is a diabolical. At first I thought it was because they were busy. Then I spotted the waiters and waitress having their own little chit chat behind the coffee machine. You know the service is horrendous when you have to leave your seat to find someone to place a drinks order and then do the same twice more to place a food order and then to get the bill...

We live near Kalk Bay and have eaten dinner at Olympia on many occasions. The menu (a blackboard) is small and changes almost daily - which is always a good sign. The wine list; like the restaurant itself is small and unpretentious. Atmosphere is slightly dingy, bohemian and very laid-back - reminds me of corner cafes in Europe. The food is top notch - Meat mains (often venison) are consistently interesting and tasty. The seafood linguine (a favourite on the board) is always a safe bet and the salads are to die for. I also love the way you can have half or full portions of pastas and salads so you can try more than one thing.

Since meeting my wife in 2004 and being from Texas, we travel to and from CT often. One of the places we have to go every time is Olympia Cafe. The decor is part of the experience. If you are looking for a 5 star interior don't go. If you are looking for great food, great views, a unique natural untouched atmosphere(cig butts and all) go. It is a 5 star experience. It is the Kalk Bay vibe.
