We went to Aubergine for our anni-worse-ry and had a fantastic time. Food was interesting, fresh and crisply prepared. The sommelier had an excellent knowledge of the wines on offer and they were paired well with the courses. Only one course fell flat - a selection of local cheeses. The rest were v.good. There were a few poncy elements and we got vaguely tired of the Chef's surprise meme. The patrons seemed to be a mix of euro and North American, and the sound of the maitre'd gargling his way through a German translation was worth coming for by itself. Bit on the expensive side, about R1400 for two (with quite a lot of wine). However, I have had far more expensive evenings in Cape Town with food and wine that is less than half as good. Try it. Cheers g. Try it.

We ate at this restaurant, our experiencing was appalling. We placed a review which was removed as the restaurant did not deem our comments true.

Interesting reading the comments about temperature of the wine from Greg. Wine is meant to be served at room temperature - this is nonsense, unless the room you're in is around 15'C. You're probably used to the warm wine served at most restaurants that just don't get it right.

I ate here a couple of months ago and had very high expectations. I was very disappointed when my dry red wine by the glass was brought to me ice cold. Red wine should be served around room temp, and they couldn't provide me with a glass as such. Food was average, nothing great. Although the service was very good.

We ate at Aubergine last night in celebration of our wedding anniversary. Being a vegetarian I found very little on offer so settled on yellowtail. It was tasty but more like a starter portion than a main course and I left the restaurant feeling hungry and somewhat disappointed. We too were not welcomed on arrival or acknowledged when we left. I certainly would not visit again.

I have eaten at Aubergine on several occasions, from intimate dinners to big celebrations. The service has always been impeccable, the food a true gastronome's delight and the prices reasonable compared to the standards this superb restaurant sets. Hats off to Harald and his team!

This restaurant is artificially hyped up - a "fine dining" experience it is not. On the contrary, an "expensive and disappointing dining" experience it is instead. The service was average and the food was an utter disappointment. The decor is OK but the general experience was a complete waste of time and money. Sorry, no star.

I had very high expectations for Aubergine, considering what I had heard and the fact that it was a 'fine dining' restaurant. The food is good, but not great or anything amazing. Some interesting menu ideas. What irritated me the most was the rather pricey red cabernet sauvignon wine by the glass I was drinking was served at about 2 degrees! That is ice cold for a red wine, red should generally be served at just under room temp. Otherwise the atmosphere is not too bad and the service is good.

Food was outstanding , best I have had in Cape Town. Service impeccable and after putting the sommelier through her paces she came out with flying colours - , Gemma made the evening one that won't be forgotten.

Sinn's Restaurant "There is something so simply indulgent about Risotto. Yes, health nuts would slate it for it's cheesy, creamy ladenness, but personally, that's all the more reason to revere it (and then pop off to the gym the next day). The Rocket Risotto and Silver Fish I had last night at Sinns, was incredible! The texture of the firm, crisp-skinned fish, paired with the dreamy sanctity of the Risotto, punctuated with beetroot chips and served out in the airy sophistication of Wembly Square- Bellissimo! ..."
