El Bulli to close

The world's best restaurant to shut down for two years.
It can safely be said that with the words "No meals will be served in El Bulli in 2012 and 2013," the end of an era has arrived.
For years Ferran Adria has lured adventurous tongues and inquisitive minds from around the globe with the aim of experiencing his molecular gastronomy creations.
With Adria’s dramatic announcement, we are sure many hopeful foodie hearts have been broken from the thought that they may never get to taste creations such as powdered foie gras, caviar eggs, or liquid ravioli.
But, Adria said, the 3-starred Michelin restaurant will not be closed indefinitely, so there is still hope. The restaurant, that has eight thousand settings per year, will open again, but the format of the menu will definitely be different.
Many critics are pondering the reasons to this pronouncement; maybe the 15 hour days and constant fame are taking their toll on the deconstructionist and he is slowly breaking down himself.
Or like many Michelin starred chefs before him, Adria has decided to take a break from catering for the needs of others and taking some time for himself and his family and friends.
One question on the minds of many, is what restaurant and which chef will take the place of El Bulli on the world’s best list?
Whatever the reason we are sure he will be back with a new vision and creations to tempt our taste buds and mend our broken hearts.
